Top 5 Android Apps and Games

As shown by the first post I love android so I thought it would only be appropriate to list my favorite android apps and games, and give a brief description of what they are, and why I love them, and some points where they could use improvements.

Apps

  1. Human Japanese
    • The good: I was able to learn Hiragana very fast, and easily which is awesome I was also memorizing phrases, and words, and I was even able to recognize them while written in Hiragana.
    • The bad: Once I got to Katakana they no longer let me hear the sounds of the character I'm assuming because the sounds are exactly the same for their Hiragana counterparts, however little did they know I was learning by listening to the sounds.
    • Overall: If you have patience I'd highly recommend it, last I checked it was $9.99 and exactly the same as the PC version just on a smaller screen which isn't a big deal.
  2. Netflix
    • The Good: It's some of your favorite movies and shows EVERYWHERE you go, and it's affordable(Netflix) also the app is free I mean not much more you could ask for right?
    • The bad: Often times it's not supported on your device, and if it is your service provider might have hefty data fees or penalties for using too much data.
    • Overall: It's an awesome app even if you are running low on data it can work over wifi so if you're in a public place just look for a nearby wifi connection.
  3. Hacker's Keyboard
    • The Good: Hacker's Keyboard is a downloadable customized keyboard which gives you a nicer keyboard layout than most defaults it has more keys than most standard keyboard layouts by default it's good for stuff like Remote Desktop connection or VNC.
    • The bad: It doesn't have swype as far as I can tell so if you like swype it's probably not for you.
    • Overall: It's better than most default keyboard layouts.
  4. Skype
    • The Good: You can call anyone else who has Skype for free and you can call friends without Skype around the world for low costs, and on devices that support it you can even do video chats.
    • The Bad: It's rare, but some older devices don't support it, also sometimes when you add new contacts it doesn't always update right away.
    • Overall: It's awesome and does what it's supposed to.
  5. Mango
    • The Good: If your into manga it's so awesome you can choose from several sites and hundreds if not thousands of different manga Ranging from Mainstream manga's like Bleach Naruto to little known titles, and it has a search feature to help you find stuff you're interested in.
    • The Bad: Sometimes a site doesn't work and they don't fix it right away, but most of the time it's resolved quickly.
    • Overall: This is the best manga reading app I've found yet, and I'd highly recommend it
Games
  1. Gameboid
    • The Good: It's not really a game itself, but it runs thousands it's a game boy advance emulator you can play most gameboy advance game, relive your childhood.
    • The Bad: It doesn't fully support every game, and sometimes the controls are awkward.
    • Overall: It's endless hours of fun, there's a free version, and a paid version the free version can do everything the paid version can except snap saving which saves anywhere in the game in the free version you have to save as the game progresses.
  2. Garden of Weeden
    • The Good: Let me get this off my chest right now anybody who knows me knows I'm a huge advocate for marijuana legalization, and I don't know how realistic it is, but in this game you can legally grow marijuana from seed/clone to harvest you have to properly nurture it with the right amounts of water and nutrients.
    • The Bad: It's a real time game meaning it takes time to grow the plants so it can be boring, and if you leave and forget to come back your plants will die.
    • Overall: It can be time consuming, but it's really fun.
  3. Fruit Ninja/Fruit Slice
    • The good: Both Games are basically the same except fruit slice is free however it seems fruit ninja has more features there is a version of fruit ninja with a 2 player mode made for tablets which is fun.
    • The bad: I can't think of much both games are solidly made they both have their ups and downs but ultimately it's a matter of opinion.
    • Overall: It's fun addictive, and awesome.
  4. Angry Birds
    • The Good: Ah Angry Birds a classic It has many levels and several different versions each with a different set of levels it's fun, addictive, and a nice way to pass the time.
    • The Bad: Not being able to knock the crap out of the pigs on certain levels can be huuuuuuuuuuuuuugely annoying, and make you want to throw your android device.
    • Overall: As stated before it's a classic any way you look at it, it's simple, and fun.
  5. Dragon, Fly
    • The Good: Like Angry birds I foresee this becoming a classic for similar reasons it's easy addictive, and a good way to pass the time.
    • The Bad: Again like angry birds it can get annoying if you keep getting stuck at the same spot.
    • Overall: It's really fun I foresee it growing in popularity if it hasn't already peaked.
